NHM Submits Planting Results in DAS 1 Rehabilitation Area to KLHK
PT Nusa Halmahera Minerals (NHM) submitted the results of planting in the NHM DAS (Watershed) 1 Rehabilitation area to the Director General of Watershed Management & Rehabilitation of the Ministry of Environment & Forestry (KLHK) Ir. Dyah Murtiningsih. The signing of the submission of the DAS 1 Rehabilitation planting results was held on March 1, 2023 at the head office of the KLHK at the Manggala Wanabakti Building, Senayan, Jakarta.
Present directly on behalf of the Company were Director of NHM Ir. Yudi Agus Susanto, Manager of Government Relations & Permitting Jeffry Butarbutar, Superintendent of Government Relations & Permitting Sukadi Handono, and attended online by Environment Manager Bowo Budileksono, Reclamation Supervisor Agus Zaenal, Environment Superintendent Rosmini Djufry, and Senior Officer Iksan Kurung.

The reported DAS 1 Rehabilitation area covers an area of 1,579.70 Ha in Protected Forest and Production Forest areas in Kao Teluk District, in North Halmahera Regency and West Halmahera Regency, and an area of 128.46 Ha in APL (Other Use Areas) in Malifut District, North Halmahera Regency, North Maluku Province. This is a fulfillment of IPPKH obligations No. SK.311 / Menhut-Il / 2009 dated May 29, 2009, No. SK.19/Menhut-II/2012 dated January 20, 2012, and No. SK.20/Menhut-II/2012 dated January 20, 2012.
In the NHM’s DAS 1 Rehabilitation area, various economically valuable species are planted such as nutmeg, cloves, durian, rambutan, etc. The development of this area also involves the surrounding community through farmer groups who are allowed to directly manage and harvest the results. This is expected to help improve the community’s economic level while keeping the environment beautiful, green and healthy.
