Forming Clean & Healthy Living Habits from an Early Age: Haji Robert Supports PHBS Education and Disaster Mitigation at SD Al-Khairaat Kao

PT Nusa Halmahera Minerals (NHM), with the full support of NHM President Director Haji Robert Nitiyudo Wachjo, recently conducted educational activities on Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) and disaster mitigation at SD Al-Khairaat Kao (6/11). This initiative, led by the Department of Social Performance and Regional Affairs (KS-UR) team, aimed to provide students with basic knowledge about cleanliness and health from an early age, while also enhancing their disaster preparedness.

The KS-UR team included the Head of the Sustainable Development Division, Irwan Malaka, and the Head of the Special Project Division, Rudianto Palebangan, who were accompanied by field coordinators during the activity.

In his presentation, Irwan Malaka emphasized the significance of teaching children clean and healthy living behaviors and preparing them to face potential disasters. “By equipping students with this knowledge, we aim to foster habits that will benefit them throughout their lives,” he said.

Marwia Seede, the principal of SD Al-Khairaat Kao, expressed her appreciation for the initiative. “We deeply value NHM’s activities like this. The knowledge imparted to our students is crucial for cultivating healthy living habits and preparing them to handle disasters, such as the earthquake simulation conducted today,” she stated.

Ruslia Haruna, a 6th-grade student, shared her excitement about the program. “I’m so happy to learn how to maintain cleanliness and know what to do in case of an earthquake,” she said.

Since late 2023, the KS-UR team’s educational efforts have reached 30 schools across five sub-districts near the Gosowong Gold mine. Rudianto Palebangan highlighted the long-term benefits of these activities. “By introducing this knowledge early on, we’re not just providing information; we’re shaping habits that will remain ingrained in their daily lives. This understanding is expected to benefit students both at school and at home,” he explained.
