NHM Participates in the 2024 North Halmahera Regency Oikumene Christmas Celebration
Representatives from PT Nusa Halmahera Minerals (NHM) joined the 2024 Oikumene Christmas Celebration hosted by the North Halmahera Regency Government. The event took place on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at the Regent’s Office court in Gamsungi Village, Tobelo District, North Halmahera Regency, North Maluku Province.
The celebration adopted the theme from the Christian Council of Indonesia (PGI), “Let us now go to Bethlehem,” with a subtheme chosen by the organizing committee: “With Christmas 2024, Let Us Strengthen True Brotherhood to Preserve the Peace of North Halmahera Regency.”
The service, led by Prof. Dr. Rev. Johny Ruhulesin, M.Si, drew attendance from several key figures, including:
- North Halmahera Regent Ir. Frans Manery and his wife
- Interim Chair of the North Halmahera Regional House of Representatives, Karwanto Hohakay
- Commander of the 1508/Tobelo Military District, Lt. Col. Alex Donald Maritua Lumban Gaol, S.E., M.M., and his wife
- North Halmahera Deputy Police Chief, Kompol Roy Berman Simangunsong, S.H., S.I.K.
- Chair of the North Maluku PGIW, Drs. Djidon Hangewa
- North Halmahera’s newly elected Regent, Dr. Piet Hein Babua
- North Halmahera Regional Secretary, Drs. Erasmus J. Papilaya, and his wife
- Secretary General of the GMIH Church, Rev. Ir. L. Boediman, M.Th.
- NHM’s Head of Stakeholder Engagement Division, Dodi W. Panudu, along with team member Cheristian Muloko
- PT NICO’s Head of Security, Alex Norotumelena
In addition, several pastors, regency officials, and Christians from across North Halmahera Regency attended, adding to the event’s significance.
In his remarks, Regent Frans Manery highlighted that this was the final Christmas celebration of his leadership, as his term will end on February 10, 2025, coinciding with the inauguration of the newly elected Regent for the 2024–2029 term.
“At the close of my leadership, this Oikumene Christmas is being celebrated outdoors so that we may come humbly before God to glorify Him in celebrating Christ’s birth,” said Frans.
Reflecting on the regional elections held on November 27, 2024, Frans emphasized the importance of unity, aligning with the evening’s Christmas theme.
“Let us strengthen true brotherhood for a peaceful North Halmahera. I also extend my gratitude to the organizing committee and everyone who contributed to making this Oikumene Christmas possible,” he added.
The event also included the presentation of BPJS (Workers’ Social Security) benefits to recipients. The Regent handed over the benefits, accompanied by the Head of the BPJS Employment Agency and related department officials, further emphasizing the spirit of giving during the festive season.
