PT Nusa Halmahera Minerals (NHM) once again demonstrated its strong commitment to safety and disaster preparedness by conducting an Emergency Response Simulation on September 30, 2025.

The simulation, themed “Prepared to Face Forest and Land Fires,” took place at Yard 02 and involved 30 participants from various departments, including HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment), Security and Police, Civil, and NHM Peduli.

This activity aimed to train and evaluate several key aspects of disaster management, including effective teamwork, efficient organization, smooth emergency communication, quick response time, and proper firefighting techniques.

Through the training and evaluation of these aspects, NHM expects that forest and land fire control can be carried out correctly, systematically, and effectively. The simulation also provided participants with a deeper understanding of the potential dangers posed by forest and land fires, as well as the preventive measures needed to mitigate such risks.

Zakaria Barham, Coordinator of NHM’s Technical Emergency Response Team, stated that this simulation is an essential part of the company’s mitigation efforts. “This simulation is part of our mitigation measures to prepare for potential disasters that can occur at any time. Through this drill, we aim to ensure that our team is ready to respond effectively to emergency situations, especially in the case of forest and land fires,” he said.

Widi Wijaya, Manager of NHM’s HSE Department, explained that the activity was not only conducted to meet regulatory requirements related to forest area utilization permits, but also to assess the overall readiness of the team in responding to forest and land fire incidents. “The implementation of this simulation is crucial for evaluating both personnel readiness and the condition of available facilities and infrastructure. With this, we hope that in the event of an emergency, our teams and resources are fully prepared to collaborate and respond effectively,” Widi stated.

He also expressed his appreciation for the dedication and enthusiasm of all teams involved, despite limited personnel. “I would like to express my appreciation to all participating teams. Even with limited personnel, they successfully conducted this mock drill as a form of our commitment to continually strengthening our emergency preparedness,” he added.

Moving forward, NHM plans to schedule similar simulations regularly as part of its ongoing safety culture across all operations. The company remains firmly committed to continuously enhancing its emergency response capacity, ensuring it is always prepared to face various potential disasters in the future.
