World Cleanup Day 2025: NHM Holds Clean-Up Action with Local Partners

In support of the simultaneous World Cleanup Day (WCD) 2025 activities held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, PT Nusa Halmahera Minerals (NHM) organized a clean-up event at the Gosowong mining area. The activity was carried out in response to Letter No. 600.4.1/4646/SETDA issued by the Provincial Government of North Maluku, following the directive from the Ministry of Environment and the Environmental Control Agency of the Republic of Indonesia No. S.1053/P.0/PSLB3/09/2025. Through this initiative, NHM reinforced its commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.

The event began with a morning assembly and briefing at the Multipurpose Hall located at the main gate of the Gosowong Gold Mine. It was followed by a clean-up action focusing on the main gate area and the company’s parking lot. The activity involved representatives from various operational departments in Gosowong, local transport coordinators, as well as owners and drivers of employee shuttle vehicles operating in the surrounding communities.

In addition to being part of the company’s sustainability agenda, the WCD implementation in Gosowong aimed to raise individual awareness about the importance of maintaining cleanliness. A total of eight participants, selected based on special assessments by the committee, received appreciation in the form of reusable tumbler bottles.

Through the active participation of local transport partners around the mining area, NHM hopes to inspire more people to care about the environment particularly by cultivating the habit of not littering during activities around the mine site. This simple act is expected to foster a culture of cleanliness and a shared sense of responsibility within the mining community.

Representing the Head of Mining Engineering (KTT), Denny Lesmana, GM of Geology Resources Project & Planning at NHM, stated, “NHM’s participation in World Cleanup Day 2025 is not merely a symbolic act but a concrete demonstration of our commitment to supporting the global environmental cleanliness movement. We believe that the success of environmental preservation can only be achieved through collaboration among all parties, including employees, partners, and stakeholders,” he said.
