NHM Revitalizes Clean Water Facilities in Tabobo, Supporting National Water Access Program
PT Nusa Halmahera Minerals (NHM) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting community development through the NHM Peduli program by revitalizing clean water facilities in Tabobo Village, Malifut District, North Halmahera Regency. This initiative aims to strengthen access to clean water for local communities and support the government’s efforts to improve basic public services and accelerate access to safe drinking water.
For more than a year, residents of Tabobo Village faced difficulties accessing clean water due to the breakdown of the main water pump. For daily sanitation needs (Mandi, Cuci, Kakus/MCK), residents relied on river water flowing through the village, while for drinking and cooking, they were forced to purchase refillable water, adding significant financial burden to households.
Under the coordination of the Tabobo Village government and the NHM Peduli team, the water pump was replaced and pipelines from the water source to the reservoir were repaired. By mid-November 2025, the project was completed, and water once again flowed to residents’ homes.
Rosmina Dowongi, a local resident, expressed her gratitude for the improvements. “We no longer need to go to the river to bathe or wash clothes. Thank you, NHM, for your help. We hope NHM can continue supporting the community in the future,” she said.
On Thursday, November 20, the NHM Peduli team officially handed over the Acceptance Report (Berita Acara Penerimaan/BAP) to the Tabobo Village government. Tabobo Village Head Fajri Kalbi also expressed his appreciation for NHM’s support. “NHM’s assistance has been very meaningful, especially after more than a year of difficulties caused by the damaged water pump. We also appreciate the NHM Peduli team’s continuous efforts in finding technical solutions to restore the water facilities,” he said.
During the handover, M. Irwan Malaka, Head of NHM Peduli’s Sustainable Development Division, encouraged the village government to prepare local regulations for managing the clean water facilities to ensure independent and sustainable operation. He also reminded the community to use water wisely to maintain the long-term functionality of the infrastructure.
