From Blood Drives to a Community Fun Run, NHM Reinforces Its Commitment to Health and Safety During BK3N 2026

PT Nusa Halmahera Minerals (NHM) has concluded its 2026 National Occupational Safety and Health Month (BK3N) program after a month of activities at the Gosowong Gold Mine in North Halmahera. The initiative, which began on January 12, officially closed on February 12 with a ceremony marking the culmination of a series of health and safety efforts.

Throughout the month, NHM organized a variety of programs designed to strengthen workplace safety culture while also engaging the surrounding community. Activities included blood donation drives, health seminars for employees, and dental health education for students from MTs Bukit Tinggi and MTs Negeri 2 Malifut. By extending the campaign beyond the worksite, NHM reinforced that occupational safety and health (OHS) awareness is a shared responsibility that reaches beyond company operations.

One of the highlights of the closing week was the “Steps to Wellness” Fun Run, held on February 7. The event brought together 140 participants, employees and business partners, who completed a route starting from Yard 5 and finishing at the Gosowong site football field. The activity reflected NHM’s belief that physical well-being is an essential part of overall workplace safety.

In the men’s category, M. Kadafik Sahrun from the Technical Services Department secured first place, followed by Halid Usman and Bahrain Kahar. In the women’s category, Nonje Djawali from the Civil Department claimed first place, with Trisia Bilo and Murni Sajim finishing second and third respectively. Prizes were presented by Head of Mine Technical Services (KTT), Rado Lawolo.

The BK3N series officially concluded with a ceremony led by Denny Lesmana, General Manager of Geology, Resources & Support, representing the KTT. Reflecting on this year’s national theme, “Building a Professional, Reliable, and Collaborative National Mining Safety Management Ecosystem”, he emphasized that safety must be embedded in daily operations.

“Safety is the foundation of mining operations. It is not merely about regulatory compliance, but about building a culture where every individual is committed to working in accordance with Good Mining Practices,” he stated, referencing Ministerial Decree No. 1827 K/30/MEM/2018 as a key guideline.

As part of the ceremony, the OHS flag was symbolically handed over by HSE Manager Widi Wijaya, marking the official close of the 2026 BK3N program at Gosowong.

The event also featured a fire-fighting demonstration and rescue simulation carried out by members of the NHM Emergency Response Team (ERT) Volunteer Program. The simulation showcased the preparedness and coordination required to respond effectively to emergency situations in mining operations.

Through the 2026 BK3N program, NHM once again affirmed that safety is central to operational excellence. By combining education, physical wellness initiatives, and emergency preparedness, the company continues to strengthen a sustainable safety culture that supports both its workforce and the wider community.
