Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Indonesia Awards NHM for Contributions to Disaster Management

PT Nusa Halmahera Minerals (NHM) continues to play an active role in disaster management efforts, both at the provincial level in North Maluku and at the national level when required. In recognition of its consistent and dedicated disaster response, the NHM Emergency Response Team (ERT) received a Certificate of Appreciation from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Republic of Indonesia (ESDM) through the Directorate General of Minerals and Coal.

The certificate was awarded as a form of appreciation from ESDM, specifically the ESDM Disaster Preparedness Team for NHM’s contributions and active involvement in responding to flash floods and landslides in the provinces of Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

Coordinated by Zakaria Barham, the NHM ERT was directly deployed to affected areas and actively engaged in a range of emergency response activities, including search and rescue operations, evacuation of victims, provision of paramedic services for injured individuals, and distribution of logistical assistance to isolated and impacted communities.

The Certificate of Appreciation was formally presented to Denny Lesmana, General Manager of Geology, Resources & Support – Project & Planning, at the Gosowong Administration Building on Friday, January 16.

Upon receiving the award, Denny Lesmana stated that the recognition serves as a strong motivation for NHM to continue enhancing the quality of its inclusive and sustainable disaster preparedness programs.

“This award motivates the NHM ERT team to remain prepared at all times so that, in the event of a disaster, they can respond quickly, minimize losses, and accelerate the recovery of affected communities and infrastructure. We hope that synergy among the government, companies, and all elements of society in disaster management will continue to strengthen in the future,” he said.

NHM remains actively involved in a wide range of humanitarian initiatives, including disaster response and disaster education programs in mining-affected areas. These efforts aim to help surrounding communities remain prepared, responsive, and vigilant in facing potential disaster risks.
