NHM Promotes Dental Health Education for Students in Support of Germas and BK3N 2026

As part of the 2026 National Occupational Safety and Health Month (BK3N), PT Nusa Halmahera Minerals (NHM) extended its health and safety campaign beyond the workplace by bringing dental health education directly to students. Through its support of the Healthy Living Community Movement (Germas), the company aimed to encourage healthy habits from an early age.

The educational session was held on January 29, 2026, at MTs Bukit Tinggi and attended by students from both MTs Bukit Tinggi and MTs Negeri 2 Malifut. The initiative formed part of NHM’s broader BK3N program, which not only focuses on workplace safety but also reaches communities surrounding the company’s operational area.

The event brought together school representatives and NHM management, including Ayup Barham, Head of the MTs Bukit Tinggi Foundation; Alip Puspandaru, representing NHM Management; Rohman Sukatma, NHM Deputy HSE Manager; Rosmini Djufri, Chairperson of the NHM BK3N Committee; Isman Ibrani, Principal of MTs Bukit Tinggi; Iksan, Vice Principal for Student Affairs of MTs Negeri 2 Malifut; along with teachers and members of the BK3N organizing committee.

The session was delivered by drg. Eko Amto Papilaya from the Gosowong Pratama Clinic, who presented the material in an engaging and practical manner. Students learned proper toothbrushing techniques, the importance of maintaining dental hygiene, and common causes of tooth decay. The interactive format allowed them to ask questions and better understand how to apply the lessons in their daily lives.

Representing NHM Management, Alip Puspandaru emphasized that introducing health education at a young age plays a crucial role in building long-term healthy lifestyles.

“By starting early, we hope students develop an awareness of dental and oral health as part of their everyday habits, habits that will stay with them into adulthood,” he said.

Students responded positively to the session. Junaidi Marsaoly, one of the participants, shared that the information was both clear and practical. “Now I understand the correct way to brush my teeth, and I will practice it at home,” he said.

The school also expressed appreciation for the initiative. Principal Isman Ibrani noted that programs like this complement classroom learning by providing practical knowledge students can immediately apply.

“We warmly welcome this initiative because the benefits are directly felt by our students,” he said.

Through initiatives like this, NHM continues to support public health programs and strengthen the spirit of Germas. By combining workplace safety efforts with community outreach, the company reinforces its commitment to building a sustainable culture of health and safety in North Halmahera.
