Welcoming Ramadan, NHM Hosts Iftar Gatherings Across Gosowong, Surrounding Communities, and Jakarta

PT Nusa Halmahera Minerals (NHM) marked the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan by hosting a series of iftar (fast-breaking) gatherings for employees at the Gosowong mining site and Jakarta office, as well as for communities surrounding its operational areas.

At the Gosowong site, the main iftar gathering was held at the Al Musafirin Mosque, where employees came together in a warm and reflective atmosphere. Meanwhile, as part of its community outreach, NHM organized a Ramadan Safari program across villages surrounding the mine from February 23 to March 14, 2026. In Jakarta, NHM and the Indotan Group also hosted an iftar event on Wednesday, March 4, featuring a sermon by KH Zainuddin Ali Al Ghozali.

As Ramadan began, a sense of spirituality and togetherness was strongly felt in Gosowong. At sunset, employees gathered in the courtyard of Al Musafirin Mosque to break their fast with dates, traditional cakes, and refreshing drinks, many of which were sourced from local community vendors or prepared by the Flight and Camp Service Department.

Tahir, a representative of the Al Musafirin Mosque Management Council (DKM), expressed his appreciation to NHM management, particularly Mr. Haji Robert Nitiyudo Wachjo, for their continued support in facilitating Ramadan activities at the mosque.

“We are grateful for the support that has enabled us to host iftar gatherings at Al Musafirin Mosque during Ramadan. We have also received assistance in inviting religious teachers from the mining area and Ternate to deliver sermons for employees in Gosowong,” he said.

In parallel, the NHM Peduli team carried out its Ramadan Safari program across 39 villages in five sub-districts surrounding the mine. The initiative brought together village officials, mosque administrators, Majelis Ta’lim groups, and hundreds of local residents in a series of communal gatherings held at houses of worship.

Each session was marked by a solemn yet warm atmosphere, with participants sharing takjil (light snacks) and main meals after the Maghrib prayer. The program emphasized collaboration and community engagement, with strong participation from local stakeholders.

Muhammad Irwan Malaka, a representative of the NHM Peduli team, highlighted the importance of collective effort in the program’s success.

“This initiative was made possible through close collaboration with village officials, mosque administrators, and the local community, all of whom were actively involved in the preparations. The spirit of togetherness was truly remarkable,” he said.

In Jakarta, NHM and the Indotan Group held a separate iftar gathering attended by employees and business partners. The event fostered a warm and collegial atmosphere, featuring a Ramadan sermon, group prayers, and a hadroh performance by Daarul Huda, which added to the spiritual ambiance.

In his remarks, Said Azis, representing management, expressed appreciation to the organizing committee and encouraged employees to embrace the deeper meaning of Ramadan.

“We extend our gratitude to the organizers for strengthening our sense of togetherness. Let us use this blessed month to increase our charity, deepen our worship while continuing to work with dedication, and build a better future for our company,” he said.

Delivering the sermon, KH Zainuddin Ali Al Ghozali spoke about the virtues and rewards of fasting during Ramadan, encouraging attendees to strengthen their faith, increase repentance, and seek forgiveness from Allah SWT.

Prayers were also offered for NHM President Director Haji Robert Nitiyudo Wachjo and his family, as well as for the continued smooth operation and success of the company. The event concluded with a congregational prayer, followed by a friendly gathering and the distribution of door prizes.
