Fostering Unity: NHM Visits Communities in the Mining Periphery Throughout Ramadan

To strengthen ties and foster harmony within its operational areas, PT Nusa Halmahera Minerals (NHM), through the NHM Peduli Foundation, organized a series of Iftar gatherings across mosques and prayer halls in villages surrounding the mine. Held from February 23 to March 14, 2026, the program reached 39 villages spanning five sub-districts.

Each gathering was attended by the NHM Peduli team, village officials, mosque administrators, Majelis Ta’lim groups, and hundreds of local residents. A spirit of solemnity and warmth marked every event, with a variety of iftar snacks and main courses served following Maghrib prayer.

Muhammad Irwan Malaka, representing the NHM Peduli team, credited the success of the program to close collaboration. “This event came together through the cooperation of village officials, mosque administrators, and local residents who joined the preparations wholeheartedly,” he said. He added that the direct engagement was part of a broader effort to build mutual trust. “We want to strengthen relationships, foster open communication, and cultivate bonds of mutual support so that the communities around us feel safe, comfortable, and at ease,” he continued.

Recognition came from local leaders as well. Ayub Musa, Village Head of Bobaneigo, welcomed the initiative warmly. “We deeply appreciate NHM’s presence among us. This is not merely a formality, it is a genuine demonstration of the company’s commitment to the spiritual well-being and harmony of our residents,” he said.

Amat M. Nur, a board member of the Nurul Qhalbi Mosque in Tiowor Village, Kao Teluk Sub-district, echoed this sentiment. “Alhamdulillah, everything went smoothly. This kind of unity is exactly what we need to strengthen the bonds between our community and NHM. We are grateful to Mr. Haji Robert and his family for their care and concern for the communities around the mine. May blessings always be upon him, his family, and all NHM employees,” he said.

Across all 39 villages, the series of gatherings proceeded peacefully and with a shared sense of purpose. The program stands as a testament to NHM’s enduring commitment, through the NHM Peduli Foundation, to placing social and religious values at the heart of sustainable community life in its operational areas.
