NHM Peduli Provides Comprehensive Medical Support for Congenital Heart Patient from North Halmahera

NHM Peduli, the social responsibility program of PT Nusa Halmahera Minerals (NHM), operator of the Gosowong Gold Mine, has provided end-to-end medical support for Veronica Saburu (37) from Kupa Kupa Village, North Halmahera, who required intensive treatment for a congenital heart defect, specifically a Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD).

NHM Peduli supported Veronica from the moment she was transported from North Halmahera to Jakarta, ensuring comprehensive care throughout the entire medical process, from initial consultations and surgery through a recovery period of approximately three months. The program also provided accommodation and assisted with her return to North Halmahera at the end of April 2026.

Veronica had been living with the condition since birth, though symptoms became more pronounced over the past five years, including persistent fatigue during daily activities. Throughout her treatment, she was accompanied by her immediate family, including her mother and maternal aunt.

Dr. Syamsul Bahri, NHM Peduli’s supervising physician, confirmed that Veronica’s condition has significantly improved.

Her current condition is very good, and she no longer experiences the symptoms she had before. She will continue routine check-ups at Tobelo General Hospital to ensure her health remains closely monitored,” Dr. Syamsul said.

Through Dr. Syamsul, Veronica and her family conveyed their gratitude to NHM Peduli.

I am deeply grateful to NHM Peduli for the support and guidance I received throughout my treatment and recovery. I feel truly fortunate. I pray especially for the health of NHM President Director Haji Robert and his family, so that the people of North Halmahera and North Maluku may continue to benefit from sustainable healthcare programs that ease their burdens,” Veronica said.

NHM Peduli remains committed to providing comprehensive healthcare support to communities across North Halmahera and North Maluku, particularly for patients requiring specialized medical attention. Through this support, the program aims to alleviate the burden on local residents and contribute to the long-term improvement of public health and well-being.
