NHM Peduli Strengthens Clean Water Infrastructure in Tiowor Village, Kao Teluk

Access to clean water is a fundamental need, yet for many residents in remote areas of North Halmahera, it remains a daily challenge. Addressing this, NHM Peduli, the corporate social responsibility program of PT Nusa Halmahera Minerals (NHM), has developed a clean water facility in Kobok Hamlet, Tiowor Village, Kao Teluk District, giving residents easier and more reliable access to safe water.

The facility was officially inaugurated and handed over on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, with Tiowor Village Head Iskandar Hi. Karim receiving the infrastructure on behalf of the community. The project was completed over the course of one month, from late March to late April 2026, through a self-managed mechanism involving NHM, the village government, and active participation from local residents.

Prior to this initiative, most Kobok Hamlet residents relied on limited water sources. Those living farther from existing facilities had to fetch water from neighbors’ homes or purchase it from refill stations for their daily drinking needs. This prompted NHM Peduli to expand the area’s water infrastructure in a more meaningful way.

The program installed two large-capacity water storage tanks and constructed a piping network now reaching 21 households and one mosque. Each home has been fitted with a water tap directly at the front door, a level of convenience that was previously out of reach for many residents.

The program’s success reflects NHM Peduli’s collaborative approach. By involving the village government and community members from planning through to implementation, the initiative not only delivered physical infrastructure but also fostered a sense of shared ownership and responsibility for its upkeep.Tiowor Village Head Iskandar Hi. Karim expressed his gratitude: “We warmly welcome this clean water facility, which will greatly benefit our community. The village government, together with residents, will maintain and make full use of it.

Community members were equally appreciative. Leader Abdurahman Haber added, “Thank you for this assistance. May it bring blessings to NHM and Mr. Haji and his family.” Beneficiary Nurlela Fatah spoke to the immediate impact: “This facility greatly helps us meet our household water needs. We hope NHM and Mr. Haji’s efforts continue smoothly.

The clean water program in Kobok Hamlet is part of NHM Peduli’s broader, ongoing efforts to address essential community needs around the mining area, spanning health, education, and infrastructure. With the inauguration of this facility, NHM Peduli hopes to improve the quality of life for Kobok Hamlet residents and ensure that every household can enjoy safe, accessible water at home, a reflection of the company’s tangible and sustainable commitment to the people of North Halmahera.
