In an effort to enhance the healthcare quality for the communities residing in the mining ring area, the company assumes the medical treatment expenses specifically for individuals in the mining ring area, as well as those in North Halmahera and North Maluku in general, who are deemed financially incapable, in need, and eligible for further referral medications.
The individuals must fulfill certain requirements in order to participate in this program. These requirements include being residents of villages located within the mining ring area of NHM, as proven by their identity card and family card. They should also be registered as members of poor households, substantiated by a Village Head Recommendation Letter. Moreover, they should not have a permanent job with income below the local minimum wage. Additionally, a description letter regarding their sickness (generated by a local health center) is required, unless it is an emergency condition. Lastly, a statement letter of acceptance from the family is necessary.
In order for a patient to be directed to the targeted health facility, it is necessary to fulfill and follow all of the requirement points. Additionally, a recommendation from the respective head of the village must be obtained and submitted to the Social Performance Department for approval. The health facilities participating in this program encompass the Regional Hospital (RSUD) in Tobelo, the Regional Hospital Hasan Boesoerie in Ternate, Siloam Hospital in Manado, as well as several referral national hospitals in Jakarta.
The Medical Access Support program has been operational since February 2021. According to records, as of August 2021, the program had assisted a total of 518 individuals, scattered across various regencies and towns in North Maluku Province. Out of the 477 patients in North Halmahera Regency, a significant number of 443 were residents of villages located within the mining ring areas of NHM.
The management of patients and their medical treatments extends to hospitals and other healthcare facilities in Tobelo of North Halmahera, as well as in the cities of Ternate, Manado, and Jakarta for additional medical treatments or referrals. As of June 2021, the Healthcare for the People program has allocated a total budget of IDR 2,568,000,000.
