ERT Supports in Natural Disaster Recovery

We frequently cannot avoid natural disasters. Earthquakes happen all of a sudden, so do floods and forest fires. These natural phenomena commonly happen in our country Indonesia with its many islands and a vast sea area. Geographically, Indonesia lies at the intersection of the Ring of Fire, which makes it prone to any natural disaster that could happen any time.

We all are aware of the impact of natural disasters which could be loss of lives and damages to houses, settlement areas and public facilities. We, the big family of PT Nusa Halmahera Minerals (NHM), try to ease the pain of victims of natural disasters. We go to places where disasters happen to show our solidarity and care to all the victims.

In the case of victims of a natural disaster that hit Palu, Central Sulawesi, the management sent NHM’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) to the affected area as a part of Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM)’s Disaster Recovery Task Force, and provided company’s donation to the affected people. During the recovery effort, NHM’s ERT also installed a water facility to help people to access clear water during their difficult time.

NHM’s ERT also went to Banten Province, again as a part of the ministry’s team, to help the people affected by a tsunami which hit some areas in the province and to provide donation on behalf of the management and employees of NHM. The same help went to the victims of a natural disaster in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, and floods that hit Manado and Gade in South Halmahera.

NHM’s ERT has been deployed to assist disaster recovery efforts in these unfortunate events below:

  • Gamalama volcanic eruption in North Maluku, 2012
  • Manado flood in North Sulawesi, 2014
  • Lombok earthquake in East Nusa Tenggara, 2018
  • Palu earthquake and tsunami in Central Sulawesi, 2018
  • Pandeglang tsunami in Banten, 2018
  • Gane Barat earthquake in North Maluku, 2019
  • Mamuju earthquake in South Sulawesi, 2021
  • Semeru volcanic eruption in East Java, 2021
  • Cianjur earthquake in West Java, 2022

Hopefully with this strong solidarity, the big family of NHM, as a part of the unitary state of the Republic of Indonesia, wishes to keep providing help to those in need during their difficult period following a disaster.
